30 Day Photo Challenge
PHOTO CHALLENGE | Take one new photo every day for the month of January.
Well, if the professionals say it’s so, then it must be. Taking and sharing a photo a day has positive health benefits! The article states,
“On the surface, these practices present a simple formula for making a positive change and getting into the habit of doing something new. However, when people participate in them, the practices are experienced as more complex and contain unexpected challenges and benefits. One benefit frequently discussed by participants is that of improved well-being.”
With that in mind, we’re embracing the first of many challenges to come for our year of photography, starting with this 30 day challenge. I know that we’re already a few days in, but the best time to start anything is now, and so we’ll beginning where we are.
A daily photo challenge can really push your comfort zone, creative practice, and regular routine. Adding in the daily practice to exercise your creativity, challenge yourself, and create something gives you something to look forward to. While not every day will offer an award-winning photo situation or feel inspired enough to take photos, we’re in this together and will push through.
Now, it is worth noting that the point of this challenge is meant to go beyond simply pressing the shutter everyday. Here are some thoughts to guide you as you begin your 30 day challenge:
Is there an area of photography you want to improve upon? If you have the opportunity throughout the month, take time to invest in yourself and shoot for what you want to do better.
Consider telling the story of your every day. What do you do each day? How can you showcase either details or scenes you encounter to create a collection of photos of your daily life?
Add to the portfolio of your preferred photography genre. If you can, take photos that represent your brand and genre of photography. Improve your portfolio with fresh new images.
Keep it creative. If your objective isn’t about a genre, then work through your saved inspiration, creative ideas, and take completely new photos.
Above all, push yourself. You have a goal for a specific time that will give you direct results and get you out of your comfort zones. Be ambitious, try new and different things, and don’t worry when some things simply don’t turn out, there’s always tomorrow.
At the end of this month, we’ll have the first month of 2021 in photos to look back on. That collection of photographs will hold a moment of your life for all time.
I believe you can do this. Let’s go take pictures!
