Instagram, Part II
PHOTO CHALLENGE | Post at least two photos a week that are relevant to your brand/style. Engage with anyone who comments and likes your photo. Scroll through relevant hashtags and leave comments on similar images.
Clearly I can talk about this subject forever, so if you’re needing to stop and access why this is useful, what the value is, and how it can be relevant to you, check out this next post…
Look at your feed, these are the questions that will immediately spring to mind and should be answered within seconds:
What kind of photographer are you?
What kind of photography do you do?
Is there a defined editing style?
Are there cohesive color tones?
What are you communicating?
Have you introduced yourself?
Are you participating in conversation, getting to know people?
What kind of impression are you making?
How are you presenting yourself?
Consistent brand
Are you being mindful of when you post?
For example: Not in the middle of the night when people are asleep is going to get the least interaction.
Are you using hashtags?
Hashtags make your photos searchable and discoverable.
Place them in a comment so hashtags don’t clutter your caption.
What are you expectations of Instagram?
Don’t chase attention
Are you posting photos for yourself?
Are you curating your feed?
Are you inspired by what you’re sharing?
Are you inspired by your followers?
If not, change who you follow.
Follow photographers you can learn from, that challenge you.
You have to want it, you have to go for it, be patient, driven. Don’t be afraid to share what you’re best at to stand out.
