Memorial Weekend Camping Trip
Memorial weekend is one of great reflection in our family. My husband and I both served in the military and we experienced, first hand, the loss of those willing to give their lives for our country right alongside us. Friends near and far left behind wives, husbands, parents, children, and their loss is evident each and every day, not just this one day per year. Yet for the rest of us, we take time to appreciate and honor our country, our families, and our friends.
It was with over a month of planning that we gathered all the friends we could and booked a new camping spot to spend a few days outdoors. For three straight days, I was up between 4 and 5am to leave early to get there, then to be on the water during sunrise. And it was so completely worth it. I feel so grounded and at peace to be the first one awake, to witness the first glimpse of light and the magic of light and color that slowly takes over the sky.
Eastern Washington is so different from Western, and I felt we were in a completely new place altogether, which was a nice change of pace. There was crazy weather and plenty of sun, time on the water, good food, and time around the campfire... all the good things! I hope your weekend was spent reflecting, honoring, appreciating all that we have because of those whose bravery is second to none.
