Work & Family Life
It’s been a long time since I’ve had the energy to sit down and write about my personal life, my photos, and my family. Honestly, I struggle with what areas to share and what to keep private. Instinctively, I want to keep most all of it private, but then I find myself with words to share, memories to document, and these ever precious days ticking by. And here I am again.
After two years, I’ve finished my Master’s degree in English Studies, and while I have big goals and plans to pursue a career path with it, I’m going to build up my credentials and wait until that little girl above is a little older. The beauty of photography, is honestly, the freedom I’m given to be with my children. I struggled immensely through pregnancy and postpartum to come back to a more centered, controlled, and grounded self that could appreciate that hustle of every day life as a mom to three. We’re a year in to life with three and I’m feeling much more on my feet now. To say I’m relieved is an understatement.
While I’m still figuring out my journey with photography, I love capturing my day to day life with my husband, children, and this little homestead we live on. At the end of last year I decided to start a 365 project to challenge myself creatively and to mark our first year as a family of five. I can’t say I’ve been 100% successful, but I’ll credit myself with a 98% success rate of one photo almost everyday.
So, I’m not sure how much time I’ll want to spend here, but I do miss the catalog of adventures, days, an little moments I used to share. I hope to get back to that, but for now, this is a start and I’m happy with that.
The holidays are right around the corner now too, and we’re preparing and hoping to create one heck of a fun, memorable experience with our family and friends.
Cheers to you, friend! May your drink be strong and you have an amazing weekend! I’ll be off on a weekend of holiday mini shoots and our own family photos, it should be a great time!
